Practice routines

10 drills that actually move the needle.

Aim warm-ups, recoil patterns, prefire spots, retake clears, smoke lineup memorization. Each routine has a duration, the workshop map you load, and step-by-step instructions.

Aim drills

  • aim_botz warm-up

Reaction time + flick consistency before queueing.

    5 minbeginner
    1. 1Load aim_botz from the Steam Workshop
    2. 2Turn on "headshot only" — set bot speed to medium
    3. 3Spawn 30+ bots at long range; clear them with single-tap headshots
    4. 4Repeat with M4 / Deagle for variety

  • Long-range tap fire

    Cross-map tap accuracy with stand-still + crouch.

    5 minbeginner
    1. 1Load aim_redline or any long-range aim map
    2. 2Tap-fire at distant targets — only one shot at a time
    3. 3Hold for the recoil reset (~0.4s) between shots
    4. 4Standing accuracy first, then crouching for tougher angles

Recoil control drills

  • AK / M4 spray pattern memorization

    Counter-recoil — the T-shape spray pattern.

    10 minbeginner
    1. 1Load training_aim_csgo2 or recoil_master
    2. 2Stand 1m from a flat wall
    3. 3AK: pull straight down, then sharp right, then left as the spray climbs
    4. 4M4A4: similar but milder vertical, less right kick
    5. 5Aim for the same cluster every spray — pattern over reflex

  • Spray transfers

Spraying through a target onto a second target.

    5 minadvanced
    1. 1Load training_aim_csgo2
    2. 2Spray AK onto bot 1 at chest height
    3. 3Mid-spray, drag onto bot 2 standing 30° to the side
    4. 4Goal: kill both without releasing fire — counter-recoil + drag

Movement drills

  • KZ / movement basics

Strafing, bunny-hopping, jump-precision. Helps with retakes.

    15 minintermediate
    1. 1Load any "kz_" or "bhop_" workshop map
    2. 2Practice air-strafing through tight gaps
    3. 3Practice sliding — release crouch on ledge edges to keep momentum
    4. 4Don't obsess over PRs — 15 min/day for muscle memory

Utility drills

  • YPRAC map utility

Smokes, mollies, flashes for a specific map.

    10 minintermediate
    1. 1Load yprac_<map> for the map you queue most
    2. 2Walk through every default smoke + flash + molly lineup
    3. 3Pin the ones you can't hit — rep them 5× each
    4. 4Recommended: yprac_mirage, yprac_inferno, yprac_dust2

  • Smoke lineup repetition (one map)

Muscle memory for one map's standard smokes.

    10 minbeginner
    1. 1Pick one map — Mirage is the gold standard
    2. 2Open csmoke_mirage or yprac_mirage
    3. 3Hit every "default" smoke 5× back-to-back: T-spawn → stairs, ramp → jungle, mid → window
    4. 4Same one-take rhythm so the muscle memory locks in

Prefire drills

  • Dust 2 prefire

Pre-aiming common angles before the corner is in view.

    8 minintermediate
    1. 1Load prefire_dust2 (or prefire_<your-map>)
    2. 2Run as T-side at default speeds
    3. 3Pre-aim each callout (long → corner, mid → doors, etc.)
    4. 4Goal: kill bots without pause — read the angle, not the dot

Retake drills

  • Retake practice (Mirage A)

Multi-angle clear after the bomb is planted.

    15 minadvanced
    1. 1Load training_aim_csgo2 or any retake map
    2. 2Pick A site default → clear Triple, Ticket, then default plant
    3. 3Time each retake — under 12s is the standard target
    4. 4Repeat with utility (smoke + flash) and without

AWPing drills

  • AWP flick / quickscope

    Flick + scope-time discipline.

    5 minintermediate
    1. 1Load aim_botz with AWP only
    2. 2Set bots to walking, mid-range distance
    3. 3Flick + scope + shoot in one motion (~0.3s scope time)
    4. 4Don't no-scope — the goal is consistent quickscopes

How to use this: pick ONE routine before you queue. 5–10 minutes of warm-up beats no warm-up. Cycle different ones across the week so you cover aim, recoil, utility, and prefire. Mechanics improve from rep, not from playing more comp games.
